Betty Mae Robbins passed from this life December 16, 2025, in Wanette, at the age of 97 years 5 months 28 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, December 19, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Wanette. Interment will follow at the Wanette Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Betty was born June 19, 1928, in Gypsy, Oklahoma, to Charles and Lillie (Craig) Starrett. She was raised in Gypsy and Cleveland Oklahoma, graduating in 1946, embarking on a life rich with love and shared experiences. In the days of her youth, she caught the eye of Jerry Robbins while he was cruising down Main Street. Their paths intertwined on March 23, 1949, when they were united in a marriage that flourished for an impressive 72 years until Jerry's passing in 2022. Their relationship was characterized by a spirited love language of feisty back and forth playful banter that endeared them to all who witnessed their love. In 1968, Betty and Jerry chose to make Wanette their home, moving from Konawa, where they rooted their family and memories. Betty embraced her joys with fervor, indulging in reading, nurturing her garden, solving crossword puzzles, and delighting in the culinary arts, particularly her skill in creating the finest cookies. A devoted fan of her soap operas, she found joy in the dramatic tales of "The Young and the Restless" and often immersed herself in the pages of "Woman’s World." Her heart was especially warm for her dachshunds, but it was her family that held the highest place in her affections. With a fierce yet tender spirit, she would defend her loved ones unwaveringly. Known endearingly as "Grandma Betty," she became a source of comfort and wisdom for all fortunate enough to know her. Betty’s impact in life was full of love, laughter, and fortitude, and will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillie Starrett; her husband, Jerry Robbins; her son, Gerald Robbins; her siblings, Louise Huffines, Cleva Breckenridge, Charlene McWilliams, Barbara Carlisle, Darrell Starrett, Wesley Starrett, Bill Starrett, an infant brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
