     Carla Jane Hawkins passed peacefully surrounded by her family, February 20, 2026, in Goldsby, OK at the age of 67 years 2 months 29 days. A private family memorial will be held at a later date, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

     Carla was born November 22, 1958, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Harold Gene and Geraldine L. (Phelps) Cox. She was raised in the Norman/Goldsby area, graduating from Washington High School in 1977. A bright student with a passion for learning, Carla pursued her education further at the University of Oklahoma, ultimately earning a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1982. Throughout her youth, Carla exhibited a remarkable spirit, enjoying gymnastics and proudly donning the cheerleader’s uniform at Washington High School. On May 23, 1981, she embarked on a new chapter of her life when she married Bobby Hawkins in Norman, Oklahoma, marking the beginning of a loving partnership. Carla's professional journey was distinguished and impactful. She began her career at American-First Abstract, rising through the ranks from Accounting Department Manager to her eventual role as President. After the purchase of American-First Abstract by Old Republic Title, Carla was named Vice President and Controller, positions she held until her retirement in 2023. Beyond her career, Carla's spirit of service shone brightly as she volunteered with various organizations, including the Norman Arts Council, the Oklahoma Land Title Association, and the Living Springs Neighborhood Association. Creativity flowed through Carla’s veins; she found joy in painting and relished the time spent crafting alongside her cherished grandchildren. Her love for exploration took her across the globe, frequently traveling with family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. A voracious reader, Carla embraced literature in its many forms and initiated a mother/daughter book club in her later years, fostering a love of reading within her family. In pursuit of balance and wellness, Carla also discovered the calming practice of yoga, which became a cherished morning ritual. Though she affectionately admitted her lack of a green thumb, she maintained a love for nurturing plants and gardening, a testament to her vibrant and resilient spirit. Carla will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her, as we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and boundless kindness.

     Carla is preceded in death by her father, Harold G. Cox; her brother, Jay C. Cox; her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Juanita Phelps; her paternal grandparents, Jesse and Alma Cox. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Bobby Hawkins; her mother, Geraldine Cox; her son, John Hawkins; her daughter, Sara Boomer and husband, Kyle; her sister, Jana Cox; her grandchildren, Khyla Hawkins, Alma Boomer, Leo Boomer; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends who will miss her.
