David Nelson

     David J. Nelson, Jr. died October 26, 2026, in Lexington, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years 1 month 5 days. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

     David was born September 21, 1962, in Ruidoso, New Mexico, to David and Elaine (Hughey) Nelson. David was raised and attended school in Mangum, Oklahoma, graduating around 1980. He spent the years of his youth playing sports, hunting, and spending time at his grandparents’ farm in Willow, Oklahoma, where he cherished helping with harvests, as well as farming and ranching. It allowed him time with his family which he loved above all else. After graduating, David was co-owner of David Nelson Construction with his father, and worked all over the states of Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. He again cherished working with his father, brothers and friends. David began working in the low voltage industry in the early 1990's, where he remained for the next twenty plus years, alongside his brother Mike and later, Joe, and for a time, his sister Nancy. In 1996, he met his future wife, Kim, and they were married shortly after in May of 1997, remaining by each other’s side. They purchased a small piece of land in Lexington, Oklahoma and together built a life together ranching, farming and enjoying their children and grandchildren. David will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, cousin and friend by all those who knew and loved him. He loved sharing stories about his family history and was always ready with an open ear to hear more and then share. David was a fierce supporter and protector of his family and friends and could always be counted on when needed. He will always be missed and the memory of him shall always be cherished.

     David is preceded in death by his parents, David and Elaine Nelson. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kimberly Nelson; his daughters, Rebecca L. Wagner and Amanda D. Cloud; his grandchildren, Hayden Allison, Cody Davidson, Reagan Davidson, Mallory Cloud and Mason Tallbear; his sisters, Nancy Nelson Williams and Carla Nelson Jackson; his brothers, Michael Nelson, Joseph Nelson and Dan Nelson; his mother and father-in-law, Judy and Harold Allison; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
