Doris Imogene Giroux

July 9, 1932 — August 17, 2025

Lexington

Doris Imogene Hudson Taylor Giroux died August 17, 2025, in Oklahoma City at the age of 93 years 1 months 8 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Lexington First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Doris was born July 9, 1932, in Coalgate, Oklahoma to George and Lillian Hudson. At a very young age she lost both of her parents due to illness. Relatives Jack and Edna Taylor took Doris and raised her along with their other children in Lexington, where she attended Lexington Schools. On February 25, 1950, Doris married the love of her life, Donnie Giroux. She continued her schooling and graduated in May of the same year. They made Lexington their home for the next 63 years. On May 9, 1952, they welcomed a baby girl, Shirley Ann, into their home. Shirley will tell you everything was perfect until her world was rocked big time. Little Sister, Donna Jean, completed this family on September 1, 1956. Doris was a very active member of the Lexington First Baptist Church. She taught the primary Sunday School class, sang in the choir, led the social committee, and served as Sunday School Secretary. Doris was proud to hold the title of “Oldest Living Member” of the First Baptist Church. Shirley was quite the basketball star, so Doris spent many hours at her games. Both girls showed livestock which she enjoyed helping with. Doris and Don, along with Donna and husband, Jimmy, raised Yorkshire hogs. The Diamond “G” Yorkshires consisted of 40 sows which Doris and Donna cared for while both Donnie and Jimmy worked for Mead’s Fine Bread. Daughter Shirley and husband, Ron, also raised Yorkshires and sometimes they would compete against each other. Doris worked many years a Ballard’s Dairy King in Purcell as a manager and then at Northcutt Greenlawn Nursery in Lexington. Summertime was always busy at the Giroux home. When the grandkids got old enough to help with the garden, Doris, Shirley, Jason, Nathan, Booger, and Julie would can whatever was ripe that day. It was nothing for the family to process over a thousand ears of corn. This defiantly took the whole family. Doris was an avid OU Football fan until all four grandchildren graduated from OSU. Then she became the OU fan divided. After Shirley’s husband Ron passed and she moved in with Doris, they both watched any sport on TV. Well, sports and cooking programs. As you can tell, Doris was a busy lady with many titles. Her favorites included: Godly Woman, Wife, Mother, MeMe, Sarge, and a few others only certain members of the family know. Doris lived a full and comfortable life. She will be greatly missed.

Doris is preceded in death by her natural parents, George and Lillian Hudson; her adoptive parents, Jack and Edna Taylor; her husband, Donnie Giroux; her brother, Jack Taylor; her sister, Bernice Broome; and her sons-in-law, Jimmy Deskin and Ronald Coulter. Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Coulter and Donna Deskin, both of Lexington; her grandchildren, Jason Deskin and wife, Ashley, of Goldsby; Nathan Coulter and wife, Stephanie, of Wright City, OK; David “Booger” Deskin of Slaughtersville; Julie Enlow and her husband, Josh, of Sapulpa, OK; two step-grandchildren, Randy Coulter of Haskell, OK, Robyn Blair and husband, Jeff, of Noble; a very special sister, Carolyn Taylor of Oklahoma City; her great-grandchildren, Delayney Deskin, Dallas Deskin, Lawson Coulter, Landi Coulter, Alexis Enlow, Leo Enlow, Allie Enlow, Ansley Enlow, Weston Blair; her six nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lexington First Baptist Church “Benevolence” P.O. Box 507, Lexington, OK 73051.
