Frances Faye Swanda died December 20, 2017 in Washington, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years 7 months 10 days. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, December 22, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Washington, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Washington Cemetery entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Frances was born May 10, 1947 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to William and Grace (Rexroat) Stenberg. She was raised and went to school in Ardmore. On April 28, 1969 she married Donald Swanda in Gainsville, Texas. They made their home in Washington, Oklahoma. In 1978, she continued her education at the Wayne Vo-Tech, completing her training and Certification as a Nurse Aide with her daughter. Frances loved skating and taught her kids and grandkids how to roller skate. She loved babies and embroidery, making bibs, blankets for new babies, including her own family. Frances enjoyed decorating cakes, running a daycare, as well as going dancing, going to Eureka Springs and playing aggravation/marbles with her husband Don and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially Halloween time.  Frances also enjoyed painting figurines. Frances was a big supporter of her husband and his time as a firefighter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Washington.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Stenberg. Survivors include her husband, Don; daughters, Kathy Wilk and husband, John, Carolyn Gilmore and husband, Ty; grandchildren, Donna Wilk, Jonathan Wilk and wife, Tasha, Timothy Wilk and wife, Brooke, Alex Crawford, Lauren Gilmore, Brady Gilmore; great grandchildren, Emitt Wilk, Kelsi Sanders, Wyatt Wilk, Tatum Wilk, Ferrin Wilk, Gage Wilk; sister, Dianne Vansickle and husband, Howard; brother, Don Stenberg and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family wants to send a special Thank You to the Washington Senior Citizens group, Pastor Marvin Kehl, Dr. Dye, Valir Hospice, Aide Carrie Blair, Nurse Sherri Warner, and nurse Donna Smith.
