Jearold David “JD” Ulin, Sr. died November 3, 2026, in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years 3 months 15 days. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

JD was born July 19, 1943, in Ottumwa, Iowa to Leroy and Nettie (Vittetoe) Ulin. He was raised in Sigourney, graduating around 1961, embarking on a journey that would take him across the country. Fate smiled upon him when he met Vella Jean Hawkins in Oklahoma City, while she worked as a waitress on Shields Boulevard, a chance meeting that blossomed into a lifelong partnership. On November 5, 1964, they exchanged vows in Del City, Oklahoma, sealing a bond that endured through the decades. Their journey together led them from Blanchard to Purcell in 1989, with JD building a formidable career as a truck driver. Known by his CB handle “Little Beaver,” he traversed many states, logged countless miles, all with an impeccable safety record, faithfully providing for his family. JD’s passions were as diverse as the lands he traveled. He found joy in the hum of a good café, the thrill of riding motorcycles, and the simple tranquility of farming and raising livestock. Even when away from the road, his zest for life kept him close to Jean as they explored garage sales and flea markets. In his later years, JD’s admiration shifted to tractor shows, horse pulls, and the enduring presence of semi-trucks, echoing the steadfast spirit that defined his journey. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering commitment, not only to his craft but to his beloved family, whose lives he enriched with his presence and love.

JD is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Nettie Ulin; his wife of 58 years, Vella Jean Ulin; his sons, Lonnie Brewer, Jearold Ulin Jr, Timothy Ulin; his siblings, Jeanette Adams, Shirley Watson and husband, Larry, Richard Ulin, and Roger Ulin.
