John Riley Spalding died December 16, 2014 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years 3 months 9 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Sharon Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Romulus Cemetery under the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
John was born September 7, 1951 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Robert and Jo (Campbell) Spalding. He was raised in Soper, Oklahoma, graduating in 1969. He married Cathy Knapp on May 28, 1972. They were married for 34 years before Cathy’s death in 2006. John continued his education at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton and then Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1997. He worked for the Department of Corrections as a case manager at L.A.R.C in Lexington. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jo Spalding, Leland and Wanda Kinard; wife, Cathy Spalding. Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Crumb and husband, Larry, Alicia McBane and husband, Shawn; grandchildren, Michael Lee, Madeline Lee, Andrew Crumb, Jordan McBane; siblings, Linda Dunn, Frank Spalding and wife, Karen, Robert Spalding and wife, Patty; aunt, Bobbie Beasley and numerous other relatives and friends.
