Kenneth Roy Hibbs died August 10, 2026, in Arlington, Texas at the age of 64 years 5 months 20 days. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Newcastle Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Newcastle, Oklahoma, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Ken was born February 21, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and graced our lives with his passion for exploration and innovation. The son of David and Nancy Belle (Estes) Hibbs, Ken grew up in Newcastle, Oklahoma. His early education was at Bridge Creek schools and then graduating from Newcastle High School in 1980. During his formative years, Ken's leadership shone brightly as President of both the Future Business Leaders of America and the DeMolays. Ken's childhood was filled with the delight of running through open pastures and at old red hill with friends the Hendersons and the Fishers. He loved riding his cherished Shetland pony, Sonny. His intrigue with the nighttime skies and constellations sparked a lifelong passion for astrology. Building RC airplanes with his father laid the foundation for his love of electronics. Professionally, Ken's expertise was vast, working as an electrical engineer for companies such as Coca-Cola, Southwest Electric, and Carter Choppers, where he contributed to the installation of electronics for an experimental helicopter. His talents also extended into technology, where he enjoyed crafting websites and working on computers. To his family, he was affectionately considered "our genius." Ken found profound happiness in his marriage to Edith "Cookie" Watson, sharing the joy of raising his stepson, Jon, a role he treasured deeply. After Cookie's passing, Ken lived in Mansfield, Texas, relishing quiet days with his girlfriend, Sharon, and close friend, Brad. Ken's life was a tapestry of love, friendship, and innovation—a legacy that continues to inspire those who knew him.
Ken is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Hibbs; and his wife, Edith “Cookie” Watson Hibbs. Survivors include his father, David Hibbs; his sisters, Linda Corbin and husband, Russ, Tamara Richardson and husband, Wesley; his brother, Darrell Hibbs and wife, Shelly; and numerous other relatives and friends.
