Lois was born February 10, 1927, on the Johnson Ranch in Washington, Oklahoma to Thomas Lee and Louie Mable (Brown) Madden. She was raised and attended school in the loving community of Washington, where she cultivated the values that would define her remarkable life. On February 12, 1948, she united in marriage with Homer Schrader in Van Buren, Arkansas, embarking on a shared journey that would last 45 years until Homer's passing in 1993. Together, they built a life rooted in the fertile lands of the Purcell/Washington area, where they cultivated not only crops but also a deep bond of love and partnership. Resilient and unwavering, Lois continued to nurture the farm and tend to the cattle even after enduring the heart-wrenching loss of her beloved husband. Her hands crafted not just the fruits of the earth but also the warmth of her homespun quilts, embodying the essence of her creativity and care. A gifted cook, she delighted in sharing her culinary creations, cherishing the moments spent with her family around the dining table.
