Mary Verdell Johnson died February 5, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years 11 months 4 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Noble IOOF Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Mary was born March 1, 1942, in Rattan, Oklahoma to Elmer Lee and Cora Lee (Stove) Colley. Raised in the small community of Rattan, Oklahoma, Mary blossomed into a remarkable woman whose life brought joy to many. On December 12, 1959, she united in marriage with Bobby Ray Johnson in Parris, Texas. Together, they cultivated a life filled with love and partnership, making their home in the Lexington area. For many years, they were at the helm of J&J Tire, a testament to their hard work and dedication. Following the passing of her beloved husband in 1994, Mary continued to honor their legacy with unwavering strength and resilience. Mary’s greatest passion was for her family, and she found boundless joy in nurturing her children and grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, laughter. She approached life with a tenacity that was especially evident in her beloved garden, where she delighted in planting and caring for the greenery and flowers that flourished under her loving touch. A member of the Assembly of God faith, Mary remained grounded in her beliefs, drawing strength and wisdom from her spirituality. Mary’s life was defined by love, devotion, and an unyielding commitment to family. She leaves behind an enduring legacy that will continue to blossom in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Cora Colley; her husband, Bobby Johnson; her son, Billy Johnson; her son, Hyram “Boscoe” Hensan; and her siblings, Ronnie Colley, Lillie Armstrong, Lou Belle Armstrong, Roy Colley. Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Anderson and husband, Rod; her daughter, Rhonda Case; her grandchildren, Shelina Jones, Brandy Taylor, Natosha Duncan, Amber Nelson, Ashley Parker, Richard Anderson, Krystal Anderson, Tonya Daughtery, Albert Hensan, Matt Hensan, James Hensan, K’Cee Ketcham, Justin Ketcham; her 18 great grandchildren; her siblings, Robert Colley, Joyce Chapple, Stella Lott, Trama Joslin, Darlene Rogers; and numerous other relatives and friends.
