Maxie Dee Folks

October 20, 1935 — May 18, 2026

Lexington, OK

Maxie Dee (Boles) Folks passed away May 18, 2026, in her home in Lexington, OK, with her family by her side at the age of 90 years. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the White Chapel Memorial Garden Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Maxie was born October 20, 1935, in Madison, Kansas. She was the youngest of 3 born to Ray “Vernon” and Willie “Geneva” (Scott) Boles. The family eventually moved to Wichita where Maxie graduated from East High School. When she was 15, her brother, Louis Carter Coles, Sr., joined the USMC and Maxie learned to play the Marine Corps Hymn on the piano. She taught her oldest children the song in honor of Louis’ as he was killed in action in Korea in 1950. Maxie was married to Ron Folks for 57 years. Between them, they had 11 children: Teresa, Bill, Timmy, Randy, MaShona, Michelle, Rene, Henry, Ron Jr., Cheri and Jeff. There are 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. If she had her way, the kids and grandkids would all live in a family compound. Maxie was very much a people person and was happiest when family and friends were together. She always enjoyed good music and dancing, or “honky tonking”. She and Ron enjoyed the RV life, traveling with her cousins Hank and Mez. They were more like her siblings than cousins. The Folks family would gather every fourth of July and camp at Ron’s parents, and later at Ron and Maxie’s acreage, cooking, partying and fireworks as well as celebrating Ron’s mom’s birthday. Motor homes, tents, kids and dogs everywhere and she loved it! Throughout her life, Maxie worked as a bookkeeper, event planner, waitress and sold Mary Kay. Ron’s military career provided opportunity to travel and meet more people, who became lifetime friends. They settled in Lexington, OK after he retired. She had a number of hobbies, including ceramics, crochet, reading, puzzles, shopping and garage sales, her pets and grandchildren. She enjoyed girl trips with her sisters-in-law and daughter and granddaughter whenever they could. In 2024, Maxie had a severe stroke, and the family was told she probably wouldn’t survive it. She showed them, and in October 2025, she celebrated her 90th birthday with so many family and friends, and her favorite characters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Maxie is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Geneva Boles; her brother, Louis Coles, Sr.; and a sister, Peggy Lee Boles; her son, Bill Yoho; her grandsons, Travis Yoho and Holden Hendrickx; her great grand daughter, Hannah Steele; and her dear best friends, Sue and Mez; as well as many other cousins, family members and friends. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Ron; her children, Teresa, Timmy, Randy, and MaShona, Michelle, Rene, Henry, Jeff, Cherie and Ronnie; her daughter-in-law Martha; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who survive her as well. Maxie really did not want to leave everyone behind and was very much loved and will be missed terribly.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House; or plant a tree in Maxie's honor.
