Michael Wayne Coker passed peacefully surrounded by his family November 4, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 59 years 8 months 19 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Lexington. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Mike was born February 16, 1966, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, to Wilson Marshall Coker, Jr. and Linda Diane (Broome) Coker. He grew up in Lexington, Oklahoma, where he pursued his education and excelled in baseball, basketball, and football, proudly graduating from Lexington Schools in 1984. On July 27, 1985, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Tammi, a union that blossomed into a beautiful partnership celebrated for over 40 years. Throughout his life, Mike committed himself to serve his community, dedicating 34 years to the fire service as a member of both the Lexington Fire Department and the Oklahoma City Fire Department, where he retired with distinction as a Major. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike possessed a zest for life that was evident in his passions. He found joy in fishing, boating, water skiing, golfing, camping, and travel, especially to the beach. He had a love for adventure that extended to riding his Harley and a commitment to his health through weightlifting and running, often participating in numerous races. Mike was not only an avid sportsman but also a devoted community member. He contributed his time to coaching his sons’ little league teams and church youth activities and was an active member of the Lexington First Baptist Church, embodying the spirit of service and dedication both in his personal and professional life. Mike was an avid OU Sooners and OKC Thunder fan and enjoyed watching sporting events. Above all, Mike's greatest joy derived from his family. He deeply cherished the moments spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, drawing strength and happiness from their love. Mike’s life was full of compassion, dedication, and unwavering family devotion, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Marshall Coker, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Tammi Coker; his mother, Diane Coker; his sons, Tyler Coker and spouse, Marissa, Ryan Coker and spouse, Hunter; his grandchildren, Henry Coker, Owen Coker, Cora Coker, Maggie Coker, Ellie Coker, Ivy Coker; his brother, Chris Coker and spouse, Deborah; his mother-in-law, Phyllis West and spouse, Paul; his father-in-law, Herb Engdahl; his sisters-in-law, Lori Cline and spouse, Scott, Juli Braisher and spouse, Tony; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
