     Ronnie Clayton Smith died September 23, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years 7 days. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Noble IOOF Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

     Ronnie was born September 16, 1946, in Okemah, Oklahoma to Carl and Alpha (Moody) Smith. His early years were spent in Noble, where he graduated from high school in 1965, laying the foundation for a life marked by service and dedication. In 1966, demonstrating his commitment to his country, Ronnie was inducted into the United States Army, where he honorably served for eight years. His bravery and loyalty were characteristics that defined him. On September 26, 1969, Ronnie united in marriage with Janice Lynn Smith in Noble, Oklahoma—a partnership that brought joy and companionship throughout their years together. Ronnie embraced life with an array of passions. He found solace in gardening and the tranquility of fishing, while enjoying the stories and history shared through his favorite channels, the History and Travel networks. His unwavering faith guided him as he actively participated in his church community. An avid supporter of OU Sooners sports, he relished the thrill of each game day, surrounded by loved ones. Professionally, Ronnie worked tirelessly as a truck driver before taking on the noble role of caretaker for the Noble IOOF Cemetery, where he tended to the resting place of many with compassion and respect. Throughout his life, he was never without the companionship of his beloved dog, Casey. Many afternoons found him peacefully seated on the front porch, watching life pass by, reflecting on the beauty of each moment. Ronnie’s most special times were spent with his 4 grandchildren that he loved dearly. Ronnie will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, devotion, and kindness remains a source of inspiration to those who knew him. As we celebrate his life, let us carry forward the lessons he imparted through his unwavering love for family, community, and the simple joys of life.

     Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alpha Smith; his daughter, Carla Jean Smith; his granddaughter, Kaeley Brianne Smith; and his sisters, Betty Solomon and Charlotte Shobert. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Janice Smith; his son, Bradley Smith and wife, Krista; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Smith, Riley Smith and wife, Torii, Macey Miller and husband, Zack, Kloey Smith; his sisters, Yvonne Bishop and Marilyn Smith-Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
