Shirley Kaye Harmoning died June 30, 2018 in Lexington at the age of 66 years 9 months 28 days. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Shirley was born September 2, 1951 to Calvin and Marjorie Sue (Ramsey) Bennett in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was raised in Lexington, graduating from Lexington Schools in 1969. Shirley worked for the Lexington School system as the Director of Food Service for many years, before retiring in 2016. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grand babies. Shirley enjoyed helping kids, which is what lead her to working in the school system. She also enjoyed puzzles, sewing, gardening, and attending family reunions. Shirley always kept track of what her children and grandchildren were involved in, and enjoyed hearing about their accomplishments and activities. She especially enjoyed attending her grand kids ball games.

Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Calvin Bennett; and her mother, Marjorie Bennett. Survivors include her son, Micheal Harmoning and wife, Courtney; son, Kevin Harmoning and wife, Amy; daughter, Maranda Smith and husband, Vincent; daughter, Tammi Harmoning and husband, William; sisters, Sandra Farley and husband, John; Linda Williams; brother, Philip Bennett and wife, Sherri; her 5 grandchildren, Zachary, Madison, McKinley, Miklyn, Dylan; her grand dogs, Samson, and Happy; and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like Shirley’s love for children to continue to inspire others in helping, so they have asked that, in lieu of flowers, a back pack full of school supplies be donated in her name to the Lexington Schools. They can be dropped off at the funeral home, or the Lexington Police Department.
