Teri Lynn Haney died August 15, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with a cancerous brain tumor, at the age of 65 years 4 months 6 days. Funeral Services are scheduled for 6:00 PM, Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Seeker Church in Norman, Oklahoma under the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Teri was born April 9, 1949 in Norman, Oklahoma to Dale and Betty (Bugher) Cox. She was raised in Norman, graduating from Norman High School with the class of 1967. She met Harold “Buddy” Haney and were united in marriage in 1970. Teri was an avid softball player and organized the Women’s Church League. She loved playing games on facebook, gardening and sewing, making clothes for family and friends. She was a member of the Seeker Church in Norman.
Teri is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Betty Cox; brother, Larry (Parker Brown) Cox; grandson, Jordan Judd Haney,and daughter in law Sharlean Haney. Survivors include her husband, Buddy Haney; children, Shelia Russell, Aaron Haney, Brian Haney, Heather Haney; grandchildren, Jared, Tai, Courtney, Alexus, Peyton,and Jazmynne; brother, Steven Ray Cox; sister, Glenda Jean Carlson; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Teri was the first commissioner of Women's Church League Softball in Norman, OK. It is because of her efforts that church women can now play softball in Norman (not just the men). She was told she must have at least eight teams to have a league and she organized twelve teams!
Teri was an excellent ballplayer and successful coach as well.
A visit to the Haney home will show her love for collecting antiques.
Teri was an excellent wife, mother, sister, grandmother,friend, cook... and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
