     Theta Demetrice (Wray) Brown affectionately known as “Dee” died November 3, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by close family at the age of 75 years 9 months 6 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

     Dee was born January 28, 1950, in, Wake County, North Carolina to Hubert Harris Jr., and Arnetta Rebecca Wray Hawkins. She was raised in North Carolina, growing up working the family farm, where she learned the values of family, hard work, education and faith in Christ. Dee graduated from DuBois High School in 1968. Soon after graduating, Dee moved to New York City, where she eventually met her husband, Sidney Brown. Dee continued her education at Rose State College earning her associate's degree in social work. She worked over 40 years as a Social Service Coordinator for the Delta Community Action. After retirement, Dee enjoyed cooking, walks and playtime with her German shepherd, Kimba. Above all, Dee enjoyed spending quality time with family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She had the heart of a nurturer, and was known for her generosity and willingness to help anyone. A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to many, Dee would often say, “There is so much bad out there in the world. I just want to do as much good as I can.” She will be severely missed.

     Dee is preceded in death by her father, Hubert Harris, Jr.; her mother, Arnetta Hawkins; her son, Karanja Irungu Brown; her brother, Jessie Wray; her grandchildren, Radhiya Ayana Brown, Kenyatta Jabari Brown, Kenyon Joe Brown; and her aunt, Thelma Taylor. Survivors include her son, Kenyatta Irungu Brown and wife, Teresa; her son, Kambui Irungu Brown and wife, Rotisha; her grandchildren, Kierra Joelle Brown, Raaya Brown, Raven Brown, Kambui Brown, Jr., Karanja Omar Brown; her sister-in-law, Barbara Wray; and numerous other relatives and friends.
