Velma Norene Henderson died January 1, 2017 at her home in Purcell at the at age of 83 years 8 months 16 days. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Services are entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Norene was born April 15, 1933 in Temple, Oklahoma to Bill and Elsie (Bingham) Cox. She was raised in the Temple area. On November 29, 1948, she married Floyd Henderson in Henryetta, Texas. They were baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the First Born on May 10, 1953. They moved to the Purcell area around 1961. Norene enjoyed cooking, traveling and camping in the motor-home. She loved to listen to Gospel Music and read the Bible. Norene enjoyed taking pictures, and spending time with friends. Every Sunday for as far back as the family can recall, Norene would prepare a family dinner to spend time with her family.

Norene is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Elsie Cox; husband, Floyd Henderson; and brother, Billy Cox. Survivors include her 4 sons, Gerald Henderson and wife, Charlene of Noble, Kenneth Henderson and wife, Francine of Lexington, Danny Henderson of Purcell, Terry Henderson and wife, Cheryl of Purcell; grandchildren, Kirk and wife, Sandy, Sarah and husband, Matt, Lauren and husband, Jolian, Zachary and wife, Kristen, Casie; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Sawyer and Kara; siblings, Helen Bowen and husband, Sherman, Sue Hewitt and husband, Carl, Sheryl Brumit and husband, Henry, Charles Cox and wife, Eva; sister-in-law, Linda Cox; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
