Wesley Ernest Winlock

     Wesley Ernest Winlock died May 23, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 43 years 9 months 17 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

     Wes was born August 6, 1981, in Centralia, Illinois to Phillip and Janna (Garvin) Winlock. He spent his formative years in the nurturing environment of Illinois until his family made their way to Wayne, Oklahoma, where he graduated in 2000. Wes’ spirit was vibrant during his school years, particularly as he passionately participated in sports, with his heart dedicated to football. His commitment to excellence and teamwork shone brightly on the field. On June 5, 2000, Wes answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, a decision that reflected his strong sense of honor and dedication. He served with distinction until his honorable discharge on June 4, 2004, earning numerous medals and citations that stand as a testament to his courage and resilience. A man of quiet reflection, Wes often found solace in the beauty of stillness, often listening to music or pod casts. He was a diligent worker, discovering fulfillment in the oil fields, where his steadfast nature and work ethic were evident. Outside of work, Wes cherished the moments spent with his family, reveling in the joy of riding four-wheelers and other ATVs along the riverbank. Wesley made a profound impact on the lives of those around him. His legacy of love, hard work, and quiet strength will forever resonate in our hearts.

     Wes is preceded in death by his father, Phillip Winlock; his maternal grandparents, Molly and Ray Garvin; and his paternal grandparents, Thelma and Tony Winlock. Survivors include his daughter, Shakya Winlock; his mother and stepfather, Janna and Robert Smith; his brother, Tony Winlock; his sister, Brandy Winlock; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
