Winona Belle Selement left this world peacefully February 19, 2026, in Purcell, at the age of 94 years 6 days. A memorial service celebrating her life is scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the House of Freedom Church, 122 N. 6th Ave, Purcell, OK, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Winona was born in Arkansas to John Jackson and Eva Hazel (Jordan) Grotts, spending most of her life in Oklahoma where she lived a life defined by her faith, church, family and friends. She had a big heart and loved life and people. Winona showed us the value of compassion and empathy, the strength in perseverance and the beauty of walking in Faith. She will be carried in our memory and hearts forever.
Winona is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; her daughter, May Ellen Phillips; and a grandson, James Michael Phillips. Survivors include brother, Dan Grotts and wife, Judy; her daughter, Katy VanSchuyver; her sons, Dean Phillips and wife, Jeanie, Don Phillips, Tony Selement and wife, Pam; her granddaughters, Sarah VanSchuyver, Dorothy Opdyke; her grandsons, Steven Phillips, Brian Daughterty, Jason Daughterty and Daniel VanSchuyver; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
In remembrance and to honor Winona, a bench with a memorial plaque will be placed at the Purcell Lake for her friends, family and the public to enjoy. Any flowers may be sent to the funeral home for the service. Rest gently, dear Mother, in God’s peace and love.
