Rita Blackwell

Rita Delette Blackwell died July 31, 2021 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years 1 month 21 days.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Rita was born June 10, 1949 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Delbert Lawton and Lula Mae (Brison) Richards.  She was raised and attended school in Lindsay, Oklahoma, and then went on to business school.  Rita and Larry Junior Blackwell were united in marriage in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  They made their home in Lexington.  Rita loved to sing, especially country music and gospel music, as well as playing the Autoharp.  Rita was an amazing cook, and made the best mashed potatoes.  She enjoyed getting her nails done, and classics like her old Lincoln.  Rita was most assuredly the matriarch of her family, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Lula Mae Richards; her siblings, Dee Richards, Tye Richards, Pam Cooper; and her grandson, Luke Charles.  She is survived by her husband, Larry Blackwell; her son, John Standridge and wife, Kara of Bucyrus, Kansas; her daughter, Kristen Pedersen and husband, Scott of Tuttle, OK; her stepdaughters, Stacey Allen and husband, Heath of Seminole, TX, Stephanie Harris and husband, Corey of O’Donnell, TX, Heather Riley of Plainview, TX; her grandchildren, Waylon Standridge, Katelyn Shook, Jordan Allen, Alexis Moore, Railee Moore, JacLynn Moore, Corbin Riley, Cason Riley; her sister, Carolyn Williams and husband, Ronnie of Lindsay, OK; and numerous other relatives and friends.
