Sharon Pierce

February 25, 1943 — April 1, 2022

Sharon Kay (West) Pierce entered everlasting life, April 1, 2022, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years 1 month 7 days.  Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

With her name inspired by the scripture, our “rose of Sharon” was born February 25, 1943, to Theron and Leatha (Thomas) West in Clovis, New Mexico.  She grew up with her older brothers, Ray and Gene, in Muleshoe, Texas.  Sharon married Mickey Max Pierce on September 18, 1958. After moving during Mickey’s Air Force career, they settled in Norman, with their four children: Mitzi, Mickey, Max and Melisa.  Before entering the full-time workforce, Sharon had an in-home bakery, where she specialized in birthday and wedding cakes.  Inside and outside the home, she dedicated herself to excellence at anything she set out to accomplish. After successfully managing floor covering businesses in the Oklahoma City area, Sharon worked as a field representative for Devry University. She would say her true heart’s calling was to counsel women in health and nutrition. Her program and in-home counseling service sought to guide women through a healthy way of life and lifestyle in all aspects-physical, mental, spiritual (if they chose) and emotional. Sharon worked with clients and their physicians to create a personalized plan for success according to their medical needs or any other considerations.  Her love for God and passion for life made her a dynamic presence in the lives of those who knew her. Considering Psalms 1 “the key to success,” Sharon loved to care for others, to share her faith and whatever skill or wisdom she could with anyone. She could never stand to see anyone go hungry and sought to bless others whenever or wherever she saw a need. Sharon loved to dance and loved music. After suffering an injury that altered her physical ability to walk, she remarked, “I may never walk again. But I will dance.”  This was her approach to life and its challenges. Sharon loved to celebrate life and its special moments with her loved ones and friends. She knew how to celebrate well. From making our favorite treats or dishes at holidays to spending quality time or giving gifts, everything she did for others showcased her love and thoughtfulness for that individual. The love and lessons she taught will live on by those who knew her.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Leatha; and her eldest daughter, Mitzi Springs.  Survivors include her three children, Mickey Pierce of Norman, Max Pierce and wife, Elizabeth of Norman, Lisa Chamberlain and husband, Phillip of Lexington;  her brothers, Ray West and wife, Donna of Midland, Tx, Gene West and wife, Donna of Lubbock, TX; her 11 grandchildren; her 9 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
